My Living Room...so far!

Finally. The living room is ready to be seen!
Houston, we have curtains!!!

I would say the room is about 60% done. But, for now I am very happy with it. The wallet needs a break plus I have a lot of ideas for wall decor and the fireplace and figure I could use some time to be sure what I want to do.

The pics are a little blown out but my living room doesn't get much light due to a super long, dark hallway that leads into it so I had to do some major iphoto(shop) to make the photos presentable.

The view from the super long dark hallway and pretty
much the first thing you see when you enter. I already had the rug so it HAD to stay. I loved it and knew it would look great with the more modern color scheme.

The view from the hallway to our Master Bedroom.

We put Malone's kitchen in a funny little corner and hung the starbust mirror that was purchased at Hobby Lobby. I am thinking I want to do a wall of starburst mirrors here.

The black/white pillows are from Ikea and only $12!!! Yellow rose pillow from Target and velvet teal pillow from Pier1. Orange throw from Ikea.

Tufted chairs from World Market at only $179 a piece! I love these chairs! They are the perfect scale and color for what I was looking for. Pillows are also from World Market. Blue lamp is from Target. Bamboo shades are from Lowe's and white curtains from Ikea.

The table still needs LOTS of dressing. Maybe some coral, picture frames and more magazines?

The artwork above the fireplace is from my very talented Dad. The middle pic was being used in the living room, the blue pic was in our bedroom and the pears were in the kitchen. I love the colors together and these photos just don't do it justice!

Eventually, I would like to add some more molding to the fireplace and beaf up the hearth a little.

Welcome to the land of the bare! This tv wall has been the thorn in my side. I have lots of ideas but more on that later.

Hope you enjoyed the tour! I am linking up with:

  4. I'm fairly new to your blog but I've been reading daily for a few weeks now and you've got a follower! Love the room! I love that rug too. I have the cream version of it in a few spots of my house. I also have one of those "black hole" TV walls with nothing but a flat screen. I'm anxious to see what you do with yours!

  25. Thanks everyone for the super sweet comments! Thought I would answer a few ?'s on here instead of via email. The rug is from Target and is still available. The coffee table was purchased at a local flee market already painted black. The starbust mirror cost around $25, I think. Glad everyone liked the room. Still a ways to go, can't wait to keep everyone updated!

  39. Does your rug shed as much as mine does? Just curious! Your room is so lovely and I love that you added the teal blue. I'm considering those flower pillows (because we do have the same rug that you do) and would love to have the source for the fabric on your side chairs if you have it? Thanks!! It's all really beautiful!

  40. @ Ter'e Thank you so much!! The rug is from Target and is still available. And yes, I am always up for a cold beverage!

@ Renae Yes, it sheds a little. I'm thinking of steam cleaning it and seeing if that helps. But, I wouldn't say that it sheds a ton. The chairs are actually from World Market and they come in several different patterns. I love them!

  41. Found you via Tatertots & Jello! I absolutely LOVE what you did with this room. Usually I find modern color schemes done in a cooler palette but I love that your room is warm and inviting. This color scheme would work wonders in my home...hmm, maybe I should go warmer vs. cooler...

  49. great job! i love the mix of dark/light colors. my hubby would love a sofa like that one day - it's nice to see that you can still play with plenty of color patterns to liven up a space with a big piece of dark furniture like that. :)

    well done!

oh- i've admired that rug from target (and one other similar one but with a slightly different color/pattern) for-ever!

  63. I just wanted to tell you that your living room was such an inspiration to me. We had brown leather couches and I just felt like they were so dull. When I saw your LR pics several months ago, it inspired me to make it work! I buy pillows whenever I see them on sale and it has changed the whole look of my LR and made the sofas much more comfortable. I wanted to thank you so much!

    ReplyDelete
  64. It's only 60% done and it's already looking great. I love the pillows you on your sofa. You picked beautiful colors for the pillow cases of them.

  65. I pinned one of these pictures on Pinterest a while back and I was looking at it again because i am furnitre shopping and love this look. I was wondering, this isn't the Bernhardt Hewitt sofa is it? I looked at one this weekended and happened to look at this pic again and it looks almost identical! If it is I would love it of you could tell me how you like it and how it's holding up. Thanks SO much!!

    1. I'm not sure if it is the Hewitt sofa but it is Bernhardt. I have had it for almost 5 years and it is holding up great! The cusions are still very full and the back cusions still look great. It is a very well made sofa. My only complaint is that the sofa is VERY deep. My husband is 6' and he loves it but I am 5'4" and if you are short, like me, it's not so comfy. I always have to put a couple of pillows behind my back bc my feet dangle off the edge and it puts pressure on my back. But, other than that, I have really enjoyed it!

  66. Thanks for replying! I am 5'9 and my husband is 6' so maybe that wouldn't be an issue for us? I really liked it when I looked at it So it's nice to hear from someone who has it. Trying to decide between this one which is a nicer brand and something that reclines that's a little cheaper. I would like it to last for a long while though. Thanks!

  68. Hi! stumbled on your blog. I LOVE your style. it's so cheery and sophisticated yet fun/eclectic! Something I'm shooting for in my home :) I was curious about your paint colors - your living room, office and kitchen - are these all the same color? I think you may have said Revere Pewter in a previous post... they look lovely. Thanks!

    1. Thanks so much! The color is Amazing Gray by Sherwin Williams and yes they are all the same color. If you are looking for a neutral gray, this color would be great if you had a lot of natural light. This house didn't and in the darker areas it read very blue. In our new home we used Hazy Skies by Benjamin Moore and it is the perfect greige color.
