My very first collection!

So I am not a collector of things. I'm not a fan of a lot of clutter in design but lately I have been drooling over all of the cool collections and displays of globes. Love them! The colors can be so vibrant and they bring so much interest to a room. A few weeks ago I made a trip to Austin and we went to a great little shop on South Congress called Uncommon Objects. I highly recommend it if you plan on taking a little vacay to the Austin area. Actually, I highly recommend S. Congress Ave all together. They have some amazing little shops and the street is packed with super cool hipsters and the vibe was awesome.
But, I digress.
I picked up my first globe for a cool $24 and I was so pumped. Since then my sister picked me up three more globes from an antique store in Dallas. Thanks sis!!

A home for my globes
I need a few smaller globes to fill in the empty spaces to achieve the look I want.
Here are some of my inspiration photos for my little globe obsession:

Have a great weekend!!!!

A Make-Up Post and a Discount!!!

Last week I told you about my Secret Weapon and this week it's on to the glue that holds it together...my foundation.

Up until I turned about 21ish I had flawless skin. I only used Noxzema to remove my make up and didn't even think about lotion or toner. Then for some reason my skin, particularly my forehead became extremely oily. Because of this I started to get those nasty under the skin white things and it looked awful. The make up I had been wearing was Mac and up until that point I loved it. But by the end of the day I could literally take my finger and with one swipe remove all the make up on my forehead...GREASY! I had to find something else. That's when I found Bare Minerals. I.LOVE.IT! I bought the foundation and the kabuki brush. The brush is a necessity in applying the foundation. You don't need a lot of product and it covers beautifully. I never have to re-apply and I never look oily. This stuff is awesome!!!

Ham's

Our little family had a great little adventure today.
We went to a local spot where you can buy fresh veggies,
graze on fresh watermelon and enjoy some yummy
peach or strawberry ice cream.

One of my top reasons of why I love summer so much....fried okra!

We came home and had some super sweet peaches.

There is nothing like a Dublin Dr. Pepper but I didn't
know they had a cake mix and frosting mix. Must.try.this.

Fresh Pies

Tasting the peach ice cream for the first time!

Maybe we look just a little alike?? I know, she is still her Daddy's daughter.

Sweet girl!

Secret Weapon: A Make-Up Post

A lot of you have been emailing or commenting on what make-up I use. So I thought I would start off telling you about my Secret Weapon! You see, I have horrible under eye circles. Not only are they dark but are kinda puffy too. I've had 'em since I was a little kid so I have searched high and low for the best concealer and I have finally found it.

The texture is very solid. It is a true stick concealer. It isn't smooth or silky. Which is just how I like my concealer. When concealer is too smooth it tends to run and settle into wrinkles. I HATE that! This stuff stays put. It also covers incredibly. I apply it with my ring finger underneath my eye and on my eyelid for complete coverage.

Now, it is pretty pricey. It is $70 but trust me it is worth every penny. Good thing is, it lasts for a really long time. Like 10 months! Before I was replacing my concealer every 3 months so I figure after 10 months of replacing I would have definitely spent $70 on concealer. So for me, it makes sense.

So if you are in the market for a new concealer, you have to try this. It works great! If you already use it then you know what I am talking about. Let me know how it goes.
Have a great day ya'll!

Taking a lil' break

Wow! What a week.
It all started last Saturday when Malone came down with a fever. Turns out she had roseola. Then, the Hubs got a sinus infection. Then, I got a sinus infection. Then, Mother's Day happened. I hosted and worked church nursery that morning all with a lovely sinus headache. Then, on Tuesday morning we found out we had been ROBBED!?!?! I won't get into all the details but let's just say someone is $4,000 in cash richer tonight.
All of this to say, I need a little break. I'll be gone for a week and then I should be raring to go with some new and fun posts to share.
I'll miss you guys!!!

Oh and because every post has to have a picture here is Malone and I on Mother's Day!

Coffee Table Books

This past weekend I headed to Austin for another hair show with my sister and friend who are now in hair school. We had a blast and on the last day, they needed to fulfill some requirements for school so I decided to kill some time at Anthropologie and West Elm. Let me just say that the Anthropologie in Austin is Uh-Mazing! It was so visually pleasing. They had all of these perfectly styled vignettes. Much more put together than our local Anthro. While I was there, I fell in love with some beautiful coffee table books that I MUST have! The Hubs and I are contemplating a semi built in bookshelf in the living room from Ikea like the one here. And these books would look great displayed on the shelves!

You can find it much cheaper here

This book is my fave! The pictures are so inspiring and the cover is gorgeous!

When I saw this title I was hooked.
This is how I would sum up my style or the style I am going for!

This book has some seriously inspiring photos and is jam packed with some stylin' parties!

I saw this book at Anthropologie but couldn't find it on their website. I loved it because of the scissors, perfect for this hairstylist!

You can find the book here

I saw this book at West Elm. I loved the bright colors and this thing is jam packed with great recipes and the pictures are beautiful!
