Score!

I love TJ Maxx! I got some amazing steals this week.
I have been drooling over the Penguin Classics books for some time. But with a $25 price tag, it would take some time for me to build a nice collection.
I ran across this beauty at the Maxx for only $12 in perfect condition...score!

I also got this decor coffee table book, Undecorate for only $19.

There are some really beautiful pictures and I love the concept of this book. Sometimes we can be too fussy or intentional with our decorating and this book promotes just going with what you love and not worrying so much about if it looks "just right."

Two more reasons why I am a Maxxonista!!

My Kitchen - Updated

So here is an updated look of my kitchen.
You can see how the kitchen looked before here. I hope you like it!

My collection of globes is expanding and I can't wait to get some smaller ones to fill in the spaces. I am obsessing over this one. I still need to find something to fill in above the pantry door and I have a few things in mind.

The view into the living room.

View across from the sink. Cabinets need hardware
and the lamp in the corner is screaming for an update.

How awesome are those Anthropologie-esque dish towels!!
They were a steal at Tuesday Morning for around $8 each.

Rug is from TJMaxx. The scheme of the rug mimics
the rug in the living room and I Love It!

Brass elephant dresses up the sink. Great $1 find at Goodwill.

View into breakfast area. Chairs still need to be painted and seats need to be re-covered. I would also love to change out the chandelier to something a little more funky.

Table top is covered in chalkboard cloth (more on that later).
The bowl was handmade by my Cousin's husband. Isn't it gorgeous?!?!
I like to keep our washable crayons in it for easy access for Malone.

I'm loving the way it is coming together! Stay tuned for more about my kitchen table redo.

My Office...Finally!

Yay!!! I can't believe it. It's finally D-O-N-E! I want to say a big thank you to the Hubs and his Dad. Without them the office would not be possible!! You guys rock!

I am horrible at before pics. So just imagine this as a completely empty wasted space. It was originally meant for a mudroom but we opted out since it was an upgrade. So for 3+ years this space has been a catch all of well, junk. We have a mac and for the past year we have stored it in various places. Our fave place is our couch and since Malone is extremely active, we figured the couch wasn't the safest place. Enter office idea. I still am on the search for the right file cabinet that I will place to the left of the chair but for now it is perfect. I LOVE it and hope you do too!

Chalkboard wall. The wall says "Favorite Things Party 2011"
but more on that later.

Curtains are from World Market and rug is from Tuesday Morning.
Ghost chair is from TJMaxx and you can see my post about it here.

Teal office supplies from Wal-Mart, who knew?

Mail system from Target. Whew, looks like I need that
file cabinet sooner rather than later. Lamp from Target.

Blogs and Coffee sign from Made by Girl and key rack from Southern Living at Home which I think is now called Willow House?

This office was so much fun and a much needed space in our home. I'm sure I will tweak it as I go but for now it is a perfect place to blog/pinterest stalk and a cheery place to pay the dreaded bills.

Have a great day!

Guest Bathroom Inspiration

So, we are doing a little re-model of our Guest/Kids Bathroom. We are almost there!! Just a few more finishing touches. I can't wait to show it to you guys. In the meantime, here are some photos that I drew inspiration from.

I love the black/white honeycomb tile. I would love to have that one day!

This is the basic concept or our guest bath. We are adding the mirror surround, new lighting and still need to find shelving for above the toilet.

I am so obsessed with this kitchen, I can't even stand it. We won't paint the kitchen in this house but I was dying to have teal cabinetry somewhere. So can you guess what I did in the bathroom??

The last two pictures are the overall feel and vibe I wanted to create in my bathroom. Clean, crisp and fun!

Happy Monday!

My very first collection!

So I am not a collector of things. I'm not a fan of a lot of clutter in design but lately I have been drooling over all of the cool collections and displays of globes. Love them! The colors can be so vibrant and they bring so much interest to a room. A few weeks ago I made a trip to Austin and we went to a great little shop on South Congress called Uncommon Objects. I highly recommend it if you plan on taking a little vacay to the Austin area. Actually, I highly recommend S. Congress Ave all together. They have some amazing little shops and the street is packed with super cool hipsters and the vibe was awesome.
But, I digress.
I picked up my first globe for a cool $24 and I was so pumped. Since then my sister picked me up three more globes from an antique store in Dallas. Thanks sis!!

A home for my globes
I need a few smaller globes to fill in the empty spaces to achieve the look I want.
Here are some of my inspiration photos for my little globe obsession:

Have a great weekend!!!!

Coffee Table Books

This past weekend I headed to Austin for another hair show with my sister and friend who are now in hair school. We had a blast and on the last day, they needed to fulfill some requirements for school so I decided to kill some time at Anthropologie and West Elm. Let me just say that the Anthropologie in Austin is Uh-Mazing! It was so visually pleasing. They had all of these perfectly styled vignettes. Much more put together than our local Anthro. While I was there, I fell in love with some beautiful coffee table books that I MUST have! The Hubs and I are contemplating a semi built in bookshelf in the living room from Ikea like the one here. And these books would look great displayed on the shelves!

You can find it much cheaper here

This book is my fave! The pictures are so inspiring and the cover is gorgeous!

When I saw this title I was hooked.
This is how I would sum up my style or the style I am going for!

This book has some seriously inspiring photos and is jam packed with some stylin' parties!

I saw this book at Anthropologie but couldn't find it on their website. I loved it because of the scissors, perfect for this hairstylist!

You can find the book here

I saw this book at West Elm. I loved the bright colors and this thing is jam packed with great recipes and the pictures are beautiful!

You can find this book here

Another home I'm obsessed with!

As you know from this post, I am slowly re-vamping my home. In this process, I have scoured the intranets for inspiration and have come across some seriously amazingly talented people and just have to share them here with you. Today's amazingly talented home belongs to Kristen of K.F.D Designs. Her home is small but jam packed with big style. Enjoy!

I LOVE the painting she did above her newly re-upholstered sofa. The wall color is so intense and I love the way the white sofa pops in the room.

Her kitchen was pretty before but painting the
cabinets white makes the room feel much bigger.

I DIE (in the words of Rachel Zoe) for this orange stencil above her bed.
Can't get enough of it!

Love this home!

You guys have to see this!
I am in love with Nuestra Vida Dolce's home. Her living room is to die for!
Her home tour is on Apartment Therapy and you can check it out here.
For now, here are some lovely images from this super awesome casa!

Do you spy those ceiling medallions?
You may see those puppies behind my tv in the very near future. Genius.

That desk is from World Market and those curtains...shut up,
they are such the statement piece in the room.

Her kitchen is beautiful. Can you tell she painted her island a slightly pink shade?
So gutsy and it totally works.

I seriously have a crush on Nuestra Vida Dolce's home. So go check her out!

My Living Room...so far!

Finally. The living room is ready to be seen!
Houston, we have curtains!!!

I would say the room is about 60% done. But, for now I am very happy with it. The wallet needs a break plus I have a lot of ideas for wall decor and the fireplace and figure I could use some time to be sure what I want to do.

The pics are a little blown out but my living room doesn't get much light due to a super long, dark hallway that leads into it so I had to do some major iphoto(shop) to make the photos presentable.

The view from the super long dark hallway and pretty
much the first thing you see when you enter. I already had the rug so it HAD to stay. I loved it and knew it would look great with the more modern color scheme.

The view from the hallway to our Master Bedroom.

We put Malone's kitchen in a funny little corner and hung the starbust mirror that was purchased at Hobby Lobby. I am thinking I want to do a wall of starburst mirrors here.

The black/white pillows are from Ikea and only $12!!! Yellow rose pillow from Target and velvet teal pillow from Pier1. Orange throw from Ikea.

Tufted chairs from World Market at only $179 a piece! I love these chairs! They are the perfect scale and color for what I was looking for. Pillows are also from World Market. Blue lamp is from Target. Bamboo shades are from Lowe's and white curtains from Ikea.

The table still needs LOTS of dressing. Maybe some coral, picture frames and more magazines?

The artwork above the fireplace is from my very talented Dad. The middle pic was being used in the living room, the blue pic was in our bedroom and the pears were in the kitchen. I love the colors together and these photos just don't do it justice!

Eventually, I would like to add some more molding to the fireplace and beaf up the hearth a little.

Welcome to the land of the bare! This tv wall has been the thorn in my side. I have lots of ideas but more on that later.

Hope you enjoyed the tour! I am linking up with:

Ghost Chairs: Amazing Steals Link Party

I LOVE me some ghost chairs. I have been seeing them everywhere lately and I just adore them. I have been dying to have one for my upcoming "office space" reveal but they are way out of my price range. The space is very small and I didn't want to have a heavy wooden chair because I felt it would just be way too overpowering. I knew the ghost chairs would be perfect but since they are too steep for me I knew I would have to come up with another solution. Until....I went to TJMaxx!!!

Below is the inspiration room for my upcoming office from Abode Love.
The chair is perfect for this small space.

I found the chair on Amazon for $145 and that pretty
much would blow my budget for the whole office space. Sniff.

So my Mom and I went to TJMaxx this morning to pick up some odds and ends for the house. I was mainly looking for items for my mantle and round table in the living room. But, of course ended up walking away with items for the office. I got some GREAT finds! I couldn't believe it??? I found a blue ghost chair for only $80!!!! Perfect size and even perfect color since I am doing green, teal and white in the office. I told my Mom I had heart palpatations I was so excited! Ahhh, I love TJMaxx!

So glad to have this beauty home. I think I am going to name her. I love her so much! Ok, maybe I'm going a bit overboard?!?!

What Amazing Steals have ya'll found lately? Whether it be for your home or for your wardrobe I would love to hear about it and see it! So link it up below!!! I think this will be so much fun and we can get some great tips on where to shop too!
